Introduction to DTD |
| DTD (Ethylene Sulfate) is a white crystalline solid or powder. Its unique heteroatomic five-membered ring structure containing both sulfur and oxygen endows DTD with excellent physicochemical properties and broad application prospects. |
The application of DTD in lithium-ion batteries |
|
In 1998, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation of Japan first investigated the application of DTD in lithium metal battery systems and filed a patent. In 2002, the Sano and Maruyama team subsequently reported the innovative application of using DTD as an Additive For Li-ion Battery.
|
1. As a Film Forming Additive, DTD can improve negative electrode stability. |
|
Xuecheng Li et al. demonstrates that DTD can preferentially decompose on the graphite anode, forming a uniform and stable Solid Electrolyte Interphase (SEI). This film effectively inhibits continuous electrolyte decomposition on the anode surface, suppresses graphite exfoliation, and enhances the stability of the graphite anode.
|
2. Enhance the initial discharge efficiency of lithium-ion batteries. |
| Zhiying Ding et al. compared the initial charge and discharge capacities of DTD with 1,2-PS and 1,3-PCS. The results showed that DTD could increase the initial discharge capacity, and improve the first discharge efficiency of the Secondary Battery. |
3. Improve battery high-temperature storage performance. |
| Jian Xia et al. studied the synergistic effect of DTD and VC, which can reduce the gas production during high-temperature storage and suppress volume expansion of lithium-ion batteries. In addition, it can inhibit irreversible capacity decay and reduce the increase in impedance of batteries after high-temperature storage. As a High Temperature Battery Additive, it can improve the high-temperature storage performance of batteries. |
4. Strengthen the cycling performance of batteries and rate capability. |
| As Low Impedance Additives, DTD can form the Solid Electrolyte Interphase (SEI) rich in inorganic components, which promotes the migration of lithium ions and reduces the internal resistance. In addition, DTD is also one of the Rate Capability Additives and Cycle Life Additives. |
Other fields |
| As a hydroxyethyl reagent, DTD has a wide range of applications in organic synthesis. It can not only be used for synthesizing pharmaceutical intermediates, but also for manufacturing various chemicals. It is used as a raw material for synthesizing heterocyclic compounds in applications such as gelatin hardening agents, antihypertensive drugs, and new dual-surfactants. |
